Getting into a routine

What holds us back? It’s an important question we should always ask ourselves.

What are some of the most common reasons we push our health out of the way? It can be our busy schedules, or perhaps being exhausted, depressed or stressed. It is  easy to think of every reason you can’t do something. But what if we changed our thinking, totally rewired our mindset?

An important part of a healthy and happy lifestyle is a routine. Do you have one? It needs to be a fulfilling one  you enjoy.

Planning  your week is a great way to start taking control of your life. NM.org published a list of reasons lack of a routine can cause negative effects in your life, such as stress, poor sleep, poor eating habits, poor physical condition and ineffective use of time.  The benefits of a routine are less stress and anxiety, more  time to rest, improved mental health, developing discipline and reaching your goals.

I  like to sit down and write out my week  on  Sunday night or  Monday morning. I take this time to write out any appointments, classes, activities, tests, projects, business affairs, dinners, etc. and set aside time for myself, exercise, and  friends and family. Writing it all down while looking at it in front of you is a great organizational skill that will help you feel more confident in your time management.

I challenge everyone to take a moment and schedule your week. Start with your normal routine, and   fill it in with activities you see time for. Maybe one day you can take a 10-to-20-minute walk in the morning and  another day add an hour for the gym.

Every day we choose how we are going to act and react. Maybe turning on your favorite song and  dancing and jumping up and down is what’s going to be your activity for the day, and that’s all you have the energy for.

Remind yourself  you can do anything, and you’re going to conquer this crazy thing we call life.
