Q: What is Readers’ Choice?
A: It’s your chance to celebrate the best in our community! Residents of Monongalia, Preston, and Marion counties are invited to vote for their favorite local businesses and organizations. From dining and shopping to services and entertainment, we want to hear who you think deserves the spotlight!
Q: How many rounds are there?
A: Two! The Nomination Round is open from May 13 – 27 and determines the top 5 businesses in each category. The Voting Round is open from July 21 – 31 and determines the top 3 in each category.
The top 3 businesses in each category are invited to our first annual gala at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place on Wednesday, October 21, where we will announce the winners of each category. A special section of all the winners will be published in The Dominion Post on Thursday, October 22.
Q: How do I nominate/vote?
A: Ballots can be found in each edition of The Dominion Post newspaper throughout the Nomination Round and Voting Rounds. Completed ballots can be dropped off or mailed to our office at: 1251 Earl L. Core Rd. Morgantown, WV 26505. We also have an online ballot. Simply visit: dominionpost.com/readerschoice
Q: Do I need to register?
A: Yes, voters must register with a valid email address to ensure fairness and prevent duplicate entries. Your information will not be shared.
Q: Can I nominate/vote more than once?
A: You may vote once per day per category.
Q: Is there a cost to participate?
A: No! It’s completely free to nominate and vote.
Q: Can businesses promote themselves to get nominations/votes?
A: Absolutely! We strongly encourage businesses to spread the word via The Dominion Post, social media, newsletters, websites and in-store signage. Promotional materials are available by request. We offer heavily discounted promotion packages if you would like to promote your business through The Dominion Post’s print and digital platforms.
Q: What do winners receive?
A: All winners will receive a free plaque and a window cling. The other two finalists in each category will receive a certificate and a window cling.
Q: How will I know who won?
A: Winners will be announced at the top 3 gala Wednesday, October 21, at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place. A special section of all the winners will be published in The Dominion Post on Thursday, October 22. Winners will also be listed on our website.
