An historic day: Reader agrees with Lou Dobbs

Dec. 1 was a remarkable date that will, alas, be celebrated by none but me. On that date, I agreed with Lou Dobbs.

That formerly respected CNN business correspondent, who crossed over to Fox when he realized there was more money to be made inveighing against imaginary caravans crossing the border, declared on that day that “… the attorney general was either a liar or a fool or both.”

Of course, we both had different reasons for coming to that conclusion. Mr. Dobbs said it was because Mr. Barr saw no widespread voter fraud and no reason to set up special investigators for pesky Democrats. I thought Mr. Barr was a fool when he said there was nothing in the Mueller Report to implicate the president, knowing that eventually the report would out. Mr. Barr was a liar when he moved to dismiss charges against Gen. Flynn because there was no basis for the case, starting a furor that was only resolved by the presidential pardon.

Regardless, Mr. Barr is seeking to improve his standing post-Trump. In this, he is showing more sense than our state attorney general and most of our state and federal legislators. They signed up to void the election via the Texas lawsuit, which was unceremoniously slapped down by the Trump-dominated Supreme Court. These officials count on West Virginians continuing to vote against their best interests, continuing to believe that the president “digs coal” while he and state Republicans do nothing to support and redirect the state’s economy. This cannot last forever.

Barr has tried to make sure that he has a life-preserver hidden somewhere on the still-floating Titanic. Have the others?
