In support of Trump and his pandemic response

President Trump’s response to coronavirus has been the most comprehensive health and medical mobilization in the history of the nation.

While offering words of comfort and optimism, faced with predictions of over 2 million coronavirus deaths, the president developed a plan of action and implemented it. Initially, he stopped flights from China, the source of the disease, despite opposition from many political opponents.

Next, he established the White House Taskforce, which was in contact with governors across the country. When they requested help, they got it. First, they asked for ventilators to treat those inflicted. The White House coordinated production so everybody that needed a ventilator got one. The country even had a surplus that we shared with countries in need around the world.

Next, governors said they faced a shortage of hospital beds. In response, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed tens of thousands of hospital beds across the country in a matter of weeks. Two hospital ships with 2,500 beds each sailed into Los Angeles and New York harbors.

The federal government sent protective gear and supplies to states in need. Simultaneously, the president called together the pharmaceutical industry and established Operation Warp Speed to develop a vaccine and other treatments for the disease. He provided billions of dollars in funding and cut red tape while maintaining safety procedures to speed the safe development and evaluation of vaccines. A massive distribution system is in place to get 100 million doses of the vaccines to states, cities, towns and villages across the country once it passes stringent evaluations  and is available.

Hundreds of medical research sites across the country continue work on other treatments for the disease. This is the type of leadership we expect and got from President Trump.

ABCA oversteps; new roundabout unnecessary

This letter has two subjects.

The first is it seems that the Alcohol Beverage Control Administration  people have overstepped their authority. They said the owners of the bars  violated safety laws concerning social distancing and wearing masks. The owners did their part by telling customers that they have to stay six feet apart and now ABCA wants to punish the bars if the people won’t listen. Signs are posted outside the bars to advise their customers what is required of them before entering the bar.

The second is why is the state going to waste $10 million  on a roundabout on the Green Bag Road and Kingwood Pike? the intersection is working. Leave it alone. I am sure there are other road repairs it could spend $10 million  on instead of taking people’s farmland for a roundabout that isn’t really needed. As far as the truck traffic going through downtown, they tried to stop it before. These trucks have a right to go through town if they want.

Despite claims, Cindy Frich supports teachers

I’m shocked that my granddaughter’s former art teacher/teacher union president would write such lies about my daughter in his letter (DP-10-25-20). Delegate Cindy Frich served on the House Finance Committee as a majority member when teachers received the largest pay raise in West Virginia history. It’s alarming that Sam Brunett would write that she voted against teachers.

Cindy Frich had more influence than any Democrat from our district and she voted for this pay raise. Cindy’s amendment helped teachers and service personnel. She sponsored bills to assist PEIA and created an account to hold reserves for future funding.

Cindy is being accused of voting for charter schools and vouchers. When she was serving in the Legislature, these bills never came before Cindy for a vote. She is being accused of attacking teachers in 2018. That’s when she made more cuts to the state budget in order to fund historic pay raises and fully fund PEIA. Democrat legislators never helped bring the struggling budget under control and it’s despicable to heap libelous comments against her for voting against toothless, grandstanding Democrat motions.

Cindy Frich has a sister, grandparents, aunts and uncles who are or were teachers, and she loves and respects them. How much payraise have you received since your Fab Five have taken over?
