Georgia outside linebacker Taurus Simmons commits to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With a name like his, Taurus Simmons was born to bull-rush. On Monday, the outside linebacker announced his intention to do so at West Virginia.

Simmons, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound outside linebacker from Savannah, Ga., became the 11th player to commit to West Virginia’s 2020 recruiting class. Simmons is projected to play the bandit position in defensive coordinator Vic Koenning’s scheme. The bandit is a hybrid defensive end/linebacker who specializes in pass-rushing.

Simmons is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals. He also had offers from Kansas State, East Carolina, Purdue, Syracuse, Cincinnati and Michigan State, among others.

West Virginia has had luck in the Savannah area recently. Incoming freshman wide receiver Winston Wright is also from that city.

College coaches are currently in the recruiting dead period for player visits, but players are still able to commit throughout that timeframe.
