Former WVU QB Chugunov to join Ohio State as graduate transfer

MORGANTOWN — Former West Virginia quarterback Chris Chugunov plans to join Ohio State as a graduate transfer, according to two sources.

Chris Chugunov

A two-game starter at the end of the 2017 season after Will Grier suffered a hand injury, Chugunov announced he was leaving the Mountaineers during the spring. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-1 native of Skillman, N.J., completed 45-of-95 passes in his WVU career while appearing in 10 games. He threw three touchdowns and three interceptions. With the Mountaineers unable to run the ball against Utah in a 30-14 loss at the Heart of Dallas Bowl, Chugunov finished 9-of-28 passing for 129 yards with two picks and a touchdown.
Ohio State, lacking arms after Joe Burrow transferred to LSU this spring, has sophomores Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell as 1-2 on the depth chart, followed by three-star freshman Matthew Baldwin, who enrolled in January.
