Spark! hosts hands-on art program on Fridays

MORGANTOWN — Join us for hands-on art during special hours at Spark! Imagination and Science Center in Morgantown. Spark will host a weekly art program, Young at Art, from 4-7 p.m. Fridays, through July 27.
Children of all ages can participate in Spark’s special hours. The art programs will be geared for children ages 6 and up.
This Friday’s Young at Art program will be Bruscho Batik. Batik is a traditional art form that uses wax and ink to decorate fabric. Participants will be introduced to batik using paper and powered ink crystals.
On the Fridays that follow, participants will have the opportunity to create art that explores a variety of art forms inspired by multiple cultures and artists. Young at Art was made possible by a grant through Your Community Foundation and the Tanner Family.
“Young at Art is a chance for kids to create artwork in a variety of ways,” said Tiffany Martin, education coordinator at Spark. “We are so excited to give children the opportunity to make their own art while learning about artists, art movements, culture, science and engineering,”
The program is free with regular admission. Participants of Young at Art are also welcome to explore the museum’s permanent exhibits. Visit the museum’s website at sparkwv.org, Facebook page or contact Tiffany Martin at educator@sparkwv.org for more information.
Spark! Imagination and Science Center is in the Mountaineer Mall at 5000 Green Bag Road. Regular admission is $6 per child, $2 per adult. Memberships are available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
