MORGANTOWN – Mylan Park played host to a pair of crucial Class A Region I tournament games on Tuesday, with Trinity Christian and Clay-Battelle each hosting.
The Cee-Bees squared off with Notre Dame on Dale Miller Field in an elimination game, while the Warriors had a chance to advance to their first-ever Class A state tournament against St. Mary’s.
Clay-Battelle fell to the Fighting Irish 3-2, closing its 2026 campaign. St. Mary’s triumphed over Trinity Christian 10-9 in extra innings, forcing a final game on Wednesday night that will see one team through to Huntington on June 6.
Notre Dame 3, Clay-Battelle 2
Despite a 12-strikeout, complete-game outing from freshman pitcher Maddox Kisner, the Cee-Bees only produced 4 hits offensively in the defeat.

Kisner allowed seven hits, but only three runs and a single walk. Notre Dame used a trio of arms to dispatch the Cee-Bees and continue its run through the bracket as the 8-seed.
“It seemed like whenever we hit the ball, it was right at the defense,” C-B head coach Johnny Coombs said. “We’ve clawed to dig out some wins all year, but this last part of the season hasn’t seemed to go our way.”
St. Mary’s 10, Trinity Christian 9 F/10
Trailing 5-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors seemed to be down and out until Damian Yoho doubled home a run, adding a third to the Warriors’ total.
Sam Fulk was intentionally walked, making way for Evan Hartley to come to the plate and do some damage.
Down to his final strike, Hartley laced a ball to right-center field that allowed Yoho and Fulk to come around to score and knot the game at five runs each and push the contest into extra innings.
Both teams came up empty in the eighth inning, even after TCS loaded the bases. The ninth didn’t see a single baserunner from either side.
But the Blue Devils broke through at the top of the 10th inning as two walks and a hit-by-pitch loaded the bases for the visitors.
A single brought home the go-ahead run to give St. Mary’s a 6-5 lead, and it would add four more runs in the top half of the frame to take control 10-5.
TCS began the bottom of the 10th with a strikeout, but a trio of walks and a single by Ty Hutson cut the deficit by one run.
Two more bases-loaded walks gave Trinity Christian runs 7 and 8, before Hartley grounded into a fielder’s choice to pull the Warriors within a single run, 10-9.
With the winning run on first, Isaac Murray flew out to right field to end the contest and force a decisive game on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. on Shilling Field at Mylan Park.
The winner of Wednesday’s contest will advance to play in the 2026 WVSSAC Class A state baseball tournament on June 6 in Huntington.
