Stephen F. Austin defensive back transfers to WVU

MORGANTOWN — It’s been a couple of days since West Virginia’s last transfer addition, and the portal is closed, but the Mountaineers are still picking up players.

Stephen F. Austin defensive back Kameron Reddic announced he has committed to Rich Rodriguez and WVU on his social media. The Mountaineers haven’t had a transfer since Sunday, when they added a fullback.

Reddic has spent the past two seasons with the Lumberjacks. In his true freshman season, he played in eight games and had nine tackles.

Reddic saw more action in 2025. Reddic played in 14 games and had 42 tackles in that span. The sophomore also had two tackles for loss, an interception, three quarterback hurries and four pass breakups, making for an exciting second year.

Reddic wasn’t too highly recruited, but he has two years of college experience under his belt. Reddic might not have experience at the Power Four level, but he’s logged a lot of defensive snaps. WVU needs some experienced players because a majority of the offseason pickups were high school/JUCO players and young transfers. Reddic has two years to make an impact for the Mountaineers.

The secondary was a position that needed transfer reinforcements. Most of WVU’s great defensive backs, like Fred Perry and Michael Coats Jr., have run out of eligibility, and some of the younger players, who were expected to fill in, have transferred out. WVU now has eight defensive backs, with two of them being safeties this cycle. If Reddic plays safety, that’d make three.

This is the Mountaineers 34rd transfer this offseason.
