University boys lacrosse rolls past Musselman 18-1, continues to build momentum towards playoffs

MORGANTOWN – Since dropping two of the first three games of its 2025 season, the University High School boys lacrosse team has won 10 games in a row with two games left on the calendar.

The latest triumph came Friday evening at Mylan Pharmaceutical Stadium, as the Hawks defeated Musselman 18-1 in a one-sided contest. The hosts left no doubt on the turf on their way to a tenth-consecutive win.

On Friday, UHS (11-2) had 13 players score a goal against the Applemen (2-7), with four scoring two.

Lucas Garman, Dane Wolfe, Nicolas Joseph, and Cam Jordan-Egnot all tallied multi-goal games. Michael Riggs, Ty Jordan-Egnot, Aidan McClintock, Maxwell Walker, Noah Bragg, Max Travis, Tyler Garbrick, Josh Brunner, and Ashton Burdette all added their names to the score sheet to account for the Hawks’ 18 goals.

UHS controlled the match from the opening face-off until the final horn, allowing only the solo goal by Musselman in 48 minutes of gametime.

“We like our squad this year with a good mix of players in all four grade levels and definitely the largest team we’ve had in a long time,” UHS head coach Antonio Mascaro said. “We had senior night tonight, celebrating 15 seniors, but some of these guys haven’t played much before this season. We were senior-heavy last season, and these guys have worked hard quickly to get to where they are, and the work isn’t over yet. We have some of our toughest games ahead of us.”

The Hawks led 6-0 after the first quarter and 15-0 at halftime.

Garman, Riggs, Ty Jordan-Egnot, and McClintock scored in the first quarter, with Wolfe scoring both of his goals in the opening 12 minutes.

Joseph, Walker, and Cam Jordan-Egnot added their pair of scores in the second quarter. Garman netted his second of the game also, while Bragg and Travis converted a goal each.

A nine-goal second frame saw the Hawks ahead 15-0 heading into the locker room.

“This group has a willingness to learn and get better every single day, and we’ve all just synced up over the course of the season,” Mascaro said. “I’ve been with this group for five years but this is my first time doing it as a head coach, so we’re just trying to keep that culture going and continue to build the program that was left when I took over.”

The Hawks added three more goals in the second half, and Musselman scored its only goal three minutes into the final quarter.

“There’s no alternative for hard work,” Mascaro said. “I think this group has become more mature throughout the season, and we’ve really pushed these guys hard, trying to make sure we’re all on the same page and banging the drum about the things we want to see happen. If there isn’t a willingness to improve, you’re just standing still.”

The Hawks will travel to Preston on Tuesday before hosting a highly anticipated matchup with crosstown rival Morgantown on Friday, May 2, on Baker’s Ridge.
