Michael L. Shackelford, 68, of Ranson, died on Jan. 28, 2021, as the result of a tragic automobile accident. He was born on Aug. 16, 1952, in Mount Harmony, Marion County. He was the son of Charles Ray and Violet Jean Shackelford. He attended Mount Harmony School and was a graduate of East Side High School class of 1970. He began working at the Avenue Market in Fairmont. In 1971, he married Janet Wilson. In 1981, they welcomed the birth of their son, Ben. He worked for 12 years for Wise Potato Chips in Fairmont and was a delivery driver for Frederick Produce, now Food Pro, in Frederick, Md., for 25 years before retiring.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Shackelford Vincent, of Fairmont, his wife Janet and son, Ben, both at home; and brother, Aaron Shackelford and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Danny and Pat Wilson, all of Morgantown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends. He was an active member of the Charles Town Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all those from the congregation who provided love and support during this tragic time. Due to COVID-19 a memorial service will be held at a future date.
