Walter C. Rhome, 80, of Dilliner, Pa., died Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at his home with his family at his side. Born in Fairmont on Oct. 3, 1940, he was a son of the late Charles and Minnie Alice (Uphold) Rhome.
He was retired from the custodial department of West Virginia University.
Surviving is his wife, Penelope Susan “Penny” (Oltmer) Rhome; three sons, Walter Lee (Patricia Lewellen), Thomas R. (Vicki) Rhome, Charles Henry (Melisha) Rhome; two daughters, Marie M. Fisher (Dan Zieglar) and Julie Ann (Allen) Brady; stepdaughter, Cinnamon Kavlick; 24 grandchildren and their families; and a brother, George Thomas Rhome.
Deceased is his first wife, Mable G. Rhome in 1999, and a sister Minnie Greenwood.
Due to the current health crisis, a graveside service for Walter’s family will be held in the Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 with his Pastors Joe and Joann Eicholtz officiating. Arrangements are in the care of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home. CDC recommendations will be observed at the cemetery during the service.
