MORGANTOWN – Say you’re a kid.
A kid with a brain for business – whether you shovel walks for spending money or harbor big dreams for owning your own company one day.
Either way, you’ll want to be at Elks Lodge No. 11 on March 7 – a Saturday – for the lodge’s first-ever “Kidpreneur Fair.”
Vickie Trickett, the exalted ruler and president of the lodge on Chestnut Ridge Road, said she’s hoping for the full gamut of future patent holders and CEOs-to-be.
Or the budding business leaders already standing in the doorway of marketing and manufacturing, she added.
“We want to encourage creativity,” she said of the event open to students ages 7 to 18.
Visit https://www.bpoelks411.org/kid-fair.html for all the particulars on how to register.
You’ll want to look in on that site, Trickett said, if you’re a grownup who already runs a business, as the lodge is looking for sponsorship and mentoring opportunities for the fair.
“We think one is going to turn into something,” she said.
Trickett and the lodge are currently on the same journey, and to get there, she’s drawing on her background in marketing and 30 years of experience as an event planner at West Virginia University.
The lodge now hosts craft fairs and other events it may not normally be associated with – along with its time-honored Flag Day rituals and other gatherings that celebrate the sacrifice and service of America’s military veterans.
Elks Lodge No. 411 two years ago rekindled its Student of the Month program which honors top-performing high school seniors from Monongalia and Preston counties.
In recent years, the lodge has contributed more than $2 million to outreach causes across the region.
