MORGANTOWN — Members of Monongalia County Board of Education met Tuesday evening to discuss updates to projects that they are going to bring to the West Virginia School Building Authority in November.
During the meeting, board members approved to rearrange the order of projects being sent to the SBA so the projects approved in 2020 can get priority on the list, according to Eddie Campbell, superintendent of Monongalia County Schools.

“We’re putting up a couple of projects before the West Virginia School Building Authority, and as required we have to make some adjustments if we are moving some of those projects that were approved in 2020 as part of the process,” Campbell said.
The two projects being moved involve improvements that the Monongalia County Board of Education wants to do at Mountainview Elementary School, Campbell added.
“We are wanting to do some foundation and roofing work, those kinds of things,” he said. “We had to move that up on a priority list because that’s what we’ve identified. We want to make these projects a priority.”
Campbell noted the goal is to get $1 million from the SBA, with the total cost of the project being around $2 million.
The board will be approaching the SBA in November and will receive notification if their funding has been approved in December, Campbell said.
“Awards will be presented in December,” he said.
Also during the meeting, Mike Kelly, president of Monongalia County Board of Education, asked the public if they hear of a road closure to let the board know so bus routes can be rerouted in advance.
“Please let our transportation director know if there is going to be a closure,” Kelly said. “… Our transportation director needs some time to reroute buses.”
