John Morton

John F. Morton II, 52, of Maidsville, passed away suddenly on April 26, 2021.

Johnny, as his family called him, was born in Clarksburg, on Feb. 18, 1969, a son of John Morton of Bridgeport, and the late Sandra (Edwards) Morton.

John was a 1987 graduate of Ritchie County High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from West Virginia University at Parkersburg in 1993. For 25 years, John has been employed with the Department of Justice as a management and program analyst at the FBI Center in Clarksburg. Throughout his working career, John has been very proud of the projects he worked on there. He greatly enjoyed CrossFit, exercising, running, traveling and, most importantly, being with his two children. John was loved by all who knew him.

In addition to his father, John is survived by his daughter, Rachel Morton; his son, Ryan Morton, both of Maidsville; his brother, Brian Morton, of Bridgeport; a niece, Erica Morton Boyd, of Bridgeport; two great-nephews, Wyatt Boyd and Logan Crumbliss, of Bridgeport; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and mom of Rachel and Ryan, Pam Morton, of Harrisville.

In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his brother, Chad Morton; paternal grandparents, John and Emma (Belle) Morton; and maternal grandparents, Harold and Edith (Gregg) Edwards.

Funeral services will be at the Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville, at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, with the Rev. Bill Dawson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home, from 2-8 p.m., Saturday.
