Robert Aronhalt

Robert J. “R.J.” Aronhalt, 87, of Brookhaven, passed away peacefully with his daughter Susan by his side on Friday, April 9, 2021, at the Madison Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 30, 1933, a son of the late Carl Aronhalt and Nina Idleman Aronhalt.

R.J. was a retired United States Army and WV Army National Guard veteran. He was also employed at Bell’s Wholesale, WV University and was a salesman for Kaeser and Blair.

R.J. was extremely active in all masonic organizations, serving as Past Master and Worshipful Master at Aurora Lodge #43 Newburg AF & AM where he was a fifty-year member. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Wheeling, Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons, Morgantown Commandery No. 18 and the Royal Order of Scotland.

R.J. was a member of the Brookhaven United Methodist church and was a member of the Brookhaven Lions Club.

R.J. is survived by two daughters, Susan and Richard Graziani, of Morgantown, and Brenna and James Dean, of Concord, N.H.; one son, Donald Kep Aronhalt, of Morgantown; grandchildren, Sara Graziani and Anthony Graziani, of Morgantown; and one niece, Karla Loftis, of Orange Park, Fla.
R.J. was preceded in death by his wife, Freda B. Aronhalt; one sister, Mabel Keplinger; and one brother, Donald L. Aronhalt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brookhaven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1, Dellslow, WV 26531.

Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, and from 10 a.m., Wednesday, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Janice Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery with military graveside services provided by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WVANG and masonic services provided by Aurora Lodge No 43 AF & AM. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines masks must be worn, social distancing practiced and limit the time in the funeral home to 15 minutes.
