Mary Lou Funk Acuff Baxley, 86, passed away Sept. 21, in Morgantown, after several months in hospice care.
Mary Lou, born March 19, 1934, in Preston County, was the daughter of the late Alonzo Walter “Jack” Funk and Mable Irene Bolyard.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Omer Allen Acuff and Horace Ausborne Baxley, and siblings, Richard P. Funk, Helen Polly Hock, Gloria Gaye Myers Lunsford, Naomi Ruth Funk and Freda Clare Funk. Survivors include her sons, Morris “Allen” Acuff, of Tunnelton, Daniel “Danny” Acuff, of Summerville, S.C., and Steven “Steve” Acuff, of Blythewood, S.C.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her sons, Danny and Steve, were grateful to have been able to visit with her again just prior to and at her passing. They wish to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Sundale Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care for the care of their mother and also for their support and assistance during this difficult time.
As per Mary Lou’s wishes, her body will be donated to WVU Human Gift Registry and there will be no formal service.
