Roderick Jackson

Roderick “Rod” Phil Jackson, a very much loved husband, father, brother and friend passed away peacefully at his home Jan. 16, 2021 surrounded by close family. Rod was born Aug. 31, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Orville Voy Jackson and Maudie Winona Woodruff Jackson and daughter Donna L. Jeurgens. Rod had adopted Bonita Springs, Fla., as his home and resided there for over 20 years.

Rod was well known in the pharmaceutical world for his expertise and knowledge in sales, all culminating with a successful career after years of employment with Mylan Pharmaceuticals of Morgantown (1986-2000). After retiring from Mylan, Rod took his lifetime of business savvy and entrepreneurial acumen to create and realize his own vision creating Cobalt Labs along with his partner Tony Tabatznik in Bonita Springs.

When it came to sports, Rod was passionate about his favorite football teams, the Dallas Cowboys and West Virginia University Mountaineers from his second adopted home in Morgantown. He also loved a good round of golf, especially when he teamed up with the neighborhood buddies he grew to love while living in Bonita Springs. Being in Florida satisfied so many of Rod’s childhood memories of beach life and water sports, and he could be found quite often at sunset, sitting on the lanai of his Tommy Bahama beach house, along with his devoted wife, Nancy Jackson. The two were mutually at such peace, watching the picture perfect sunsets, holding hands, listening to the crashing waves and sipping a nice glass of wine. These were their absolute favorite times.

Rod Jackson is survived by his true love and doting wife, Nancy Newlon Jackson; his brother, Elmo Jackson (Rosa); daughters, Laura Wood-Smith (Steve), Janna Arney (Doug), Stephanie Jackson and Krista Mitchell (Jeff); and sons, Kenneth Spencer (Jacki), Romney Spencer and Rob Wolfe (Kristie). He also leaves behind 25 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Rod was a friend to many and impacted so many with his affection, so if anyone would like to share stories of friendship, please send emails to rodjackson1939@comcast.net.
