Your Community Foundation of North Central West Virginia Inc., announced the distribution of grants totaling $104,473 to 20 local charitable organizations in recognition of Community Foundation Week.

Awards range from $500 to $17,000 and support many community programs, services and initiatives in the region YCF serves. YCF’s region includes Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor counties.

The nonprofit organizations receiving grants include: CASA For Kids of Monongalia and Preston Counties, Chestnut Mountain Ranch, Milan Puskar Health Right, Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center, Monongalia County Schools (Federal Programs / Title I), Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels, Morgantown Public Library (Cheat Lake Branch), Mountaineers for Mutts, Pantry Plus More Inc., Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center, Read Aloud West Virginia, Salvation Army of Grafton, Susan Dew Hoff Memorial Clinic, Taylor County Family Resources and United Way of Harrison County.

These grants include awards from several YCF donor advised funds, the YCF IMPACT Fund and the Taylor County Charitable Interest Fund. The Women’s Giving Circle of North Central West Virginia, a component fund of YCF, will announce its 2020 grant recipients later this month.

YCF is awarding these grants in honor of National Community Foundation Week, celebrated in West Virginia, running through Saturday. Community Foundation Week was established in 1989 by former President George H.W. Bush to recognize the important work of community foundations throughout the country and emphasize the work in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.

“When we give together, we make a greater impact and better serve those in need,” said YCF Board Chair, James Griffin. “On behalf of YCF’s Board of Directors, I thank our generous donors and congratulate this year’s grant recipients.”

“Additional donations from our community members are always welcome to boost the grant dollars awarded,” said YCF President, Patty Showers Ryan. To donate to the YCF IMPACT Fund, please visit YCF’s website at www.ycfwv.org or mail a check made payable to YCF to P.O. Box 409, Morgantown, WV 26507.
