Linda White

Linda Kay White, 73, of Morgantown passed away Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital with her daughter by her side.

She was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Morgantown, to the late Ray and Mary Kay (Fields) Cress, of Masontown, W.Va.

Linda was a devoted lover of animals and was particularly concerned with the welfare of dogs. She spent many hours volunteering at Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia Thrift Shop. She leaves behind her faithful pug companion, Duke, whom she loved very much.

On any given weekend, you could find Linda out and about at local yard sales. She loved the excitement of finding hidden treasures.

Although she suffered from painful rheumatoid arthritis for many years, she pushed herself to care for others. She always made sure her friends and family were all right and always told them she loved them.

Linda is survived by her husband, Jeff White, of Morgantown; daughter, Mechelle Yost, of Morgantown; son-in-law Brett Yost, of Daybrook; granddaughter, Savannah Yost, of Matawan, N.J.; grandson Pony Yost, of Daybrook; a stepson, Byron White and his family, of Baldwin, Fla.; her sisters, Barbara Hines, of Barberton, Ohio, and Cynthia McCloud, of Kingwood; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jason “Butch” Cress, and a sister, Debra Hartman.

At Linda’s request, she has been cremated.

Her daughter would like to give special thanks to Jason and Cathy Smith at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care for the loving care given to her mom.

Smith Funeral & Cremation Care of Westover/Morgantown is privileged to care for the family.
