Joan Sims

Joan Bonnell Sims, 78, of Albright, formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at Mon Health Preston Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Joan was born July 4, 1942 in Morgantown a daughter to Sherman and Olga Corob Bonnell.

Joan was Apostolic by faith and retired from WVU where she worked in housing for more than 30 years. Joan was often quiet and reserved, keeping to herself. She enjoyed reading and watching her soap operas. Joan loved her nephews and was always interested in what they were doing.

She leaves behind her only surviving sister, Alice Compton and husband Roger, of Morgantown; and nephews, Wesley Compton and wife Regina, of Morgantown, Eric McMillen, of Albright, and Clint Bryan, of Star City. Also surviving are five great-nephews.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Olga Bonnell; brother, Robert Bonnell; sister, Rosemary Bryan; and two nephews, Jeffery Compton and Bobby Bonnell.

Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Kingwood Pike at noon on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020, with Pastor David Lee Corob officiating. The Fred Jenkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Joan Sims.
