Junior Glenn (J.G.) Thomas, 86, of Spring Hill, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn.
J.G. was born in Terra Alta, to Glenn G. & Pauline F. Thomas on July 14, 1934.
He graduated from Philippi High School class of 1952. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1956. He served and retired as a deputy sheriff from the Barbour County Sheriff’s Department. He loved football and the Mountaineers, He enjoyed working outside and gardening.
J.G. is survived by his three daughters, Pamela O’Neill (Dale), of Deltona, Fla., Sandra Thomas, of Columbia, Tenn., and Linda Good, of Spring Hill, Tenn.; two granddaughters, Kelly Defibaugh (Eric), of Deltona, Fla., and Kathleen O’Neill, of Sarasota, Fla., and one great-grandson, Caden Defibaugh, of Deltona, Fla.
He is preceded in death by his father, Glenn G.; mother, Pauline F. Thomas; and an infant son, Larry Michael Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions to be made to the BrightFocus Foundation for research in Alzheimer’s disease and Macular Degeneration, Alex’s Lemonade Stand for childhood cancer research or to your local Humane Society.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Salem Church of the Brethren in Bruceton Mills at 1 pm Oct. 17 with Pastor Donnie Savage officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Philippi.
Carl R. Spear Funeral Home of Brandonville-Bruceton Mills will be assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
