Clara Scordato

Clara Cianfrocco Scordato, 89, of Mechanicsburg, Pa., formerly of Morgantown, passed away on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at the Church of God Home, Skilled Nursing Unit, in Carlisle, Pa. She was born on June 24, 1931, at the family home in Westover, a daughter of the late Mary (Sabatini) and Sebastiano (Sam) Cianfrocco.

Clara graduated from Morgantown High School, Class of 1949. She was employed by Beamer Ford Sales, Universal CIT Credit Corporation, and Horton Ford Sales in Morgantown prior to moving to Mechanicsburg, Pa. where she worked for the Boyer and Ritter Accounting Firm. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Mechanicsburg, Pa.

Clara was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 548 and the Columbiana Lodge Women’s Auxiliary No. 42 in Morgantown.

Clara is survived by her son, Michael Scordato, and granddaughter, Anna Marie Scordato, her only grandchild whom she was very proud of, of Morgantown. Also surviving are her brothers, Vincent Cianfrocco and Thomas Cianfrocco; her sister, Rosemary Cianfrocco, all of Morgantown; nieces, Kathy (Rex) Foster, Mary Ann Boczek; nephew Thomas Cianfrocco; great-nieces, Lauren Boczek, Kara Boczek and Hillary (Michael) Boone; great-nephew, Kyle Foster; and brother- and sister-in-law, Joseph and Alma Scordato.

In addition to her parents, Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Scordato, on Oct. 12, 2019; her grandparents, Vincenzo and Chiara (Clara) Cianfrocco, of Alatri, Italy; Rose and Angelo Sabatini, of Morgantown; her aunts and uncles Acquilino and Emma Chenfrock (Cianfrocco), of Harrisville; Joe and Mary Katherine Sabatini, of Dearborn, Mich.; her aunt Francis Sabatini; and her sister-in-law, Mary Jean Keechel Cianfrocco, of Morgantown. Also surviving are relatives in Italy.

Friends will be received at the Dering-Henson Funeral Home, Morgantown, from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.

A Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508 at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2020. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery in Morgantown. Clara’s parents were married on Oct. 2, 1927.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or to St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 19 Jo Glen Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508.
