Emergency Repair Continues

MUB fixes a water main break on Beechurst Avenue

Morgantown Utility Board continues work on an  emergency repair of a 24-inch water main on Beechurst Avenue today, which will disrupt traffic from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

The break, which occurred Monday, was the result of a contractor striking a pipe. To avoid water outages, MUB switched to a redundant 16-inch pipe, while resolving the issue.

Due to the work, Beechurst Avenue is a single lane from Campus Drive to Hough Street. Those who are able are asked to avoid the area.

MUB also continues work along University Avenue in Suncrest, in support of the West Virginia Division of Highways’ roundabout project. For roughly four weeks, work will be performed from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Sunday-Wednesday. During work hours, University Avenue will be closed from the intersection with Collins Ferry Road and Baldwin Street to Laurel Street/Pocahontas Avenue, with through traffic detoured along Collins Ferry Road, Aspen Street and Junior Avenue.

The road will reopen during non-work hours.
