Josephine Virginia Soccorsi, 94, of Morgantown, died Wednesday, July 1, 2020, peacefully at the home of her daughter Wendy Shannon, while surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 15, 1925, in Terra Alta, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Mary Marie McNear Sypolt.
Josephine enjoyed spending time with her family, parties, eating out and watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Soccorsi; long-time partner, Alfred ‘Chunky’ Soccorsi; one brother, Richard Sypolt; infant son, Freddie Lee Freeland; daughter, Elessa (Soccorsi) Kramer; grandson, Joshua Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Sydney Kramer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three children; Todd Soccorsi and wife Connie, of Morgantown; Paulette Thompson and husband Larry, of Petersburg; and Wendy Shannon and husband Terry, of Morgantown.
Also, surviving are her 10 grandchildren, Danica Rubenstein and long-time partner, Josh Dolin, Kara Jo Hunter and husband Craig, Jonathan “J.D.” Wilson and wife Rachel, Tasha Sponaugle and husband Isaac, Jeffrey Kramer and wife Abrahana, Tyler Kramer, Todd Soccorsi Jr., Jessica Soccorsi, Brian Shannon and wife Amy, and Whitney Shannon; 14 great-grandchildren, Celeste and Molly Rubenstein, Dmitri and Alyssia Hunter, Lyric and Jaden Wilson, Kaleb Jennings, Rayna, Noah and Clarabella Kramer, Alana and Aiden Kramer and Brayden and Avery Shannon.
Visitation will be held at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home, from 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6 until the time of services at 1 p.m. with Pastor Kelly Perkins officiating. Masks will be recommended with proper social distancing guidelines. Josephine will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Hills Cemetery.
