
Durward Gary Summers, 82, of Morgantown, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2020, at his home. He was born April 21, 1938, in Morgantown, a son of the late David and Sarah (Clark) Summers. Mr. Summers was a devoted member of Burns Chapel United Methodist Church and a dedicated family man. He retired from WVU Motor pool in 2007 after 20 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing and eating buckwheat cakes.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gail; daughters, Debbie and her husband Roy, Donna, Kerry and her companion Robert; and son, David and his wife Dawn; eight grandchildren, Erica, Heather, Zach, Dannah, Jordan, Daymean, Madison, and Devon; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew, Alexis, Mackenzi, Delaney, Jovee, Rhett, Liam, Callen and Brinley.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Sadie; brothers, Russell, Bradley and sister, Grace.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 12-9 p.m. Sunday, June 7. A public graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, intersection of Rt. 119 and Goshen Rd., at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 8, with Pastor Lynda Masters officiating.
