Challen Ice, Jr.

On Friday, March 27 2020, Challen “Bud” Harold Ice, Jr., 94, passed though death into the arms of his Lord.
“But as for me, by thine abundant loving kindness, I will enter thy house. At thy holy temple I will bow in reverence for Thee.” Psalm 5:7

Bud is preceded in death by his wife Doris (Maxwell) Ice.

He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Larry and Pam, Bob and Cassie, and Jim and Christine; his seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and Mollie, his canine heaven-sent faithful companion for so many years.

Born in Barrackville, in 1925, he was proud to serve his country in World War II as a P-51 Mustang fighter pilot. Married to his beloved wife Doris for 66 years, together they raised their three boys in the warmth of a Christian home and touched the lives of countless others with their love and charity. Residing in Barrackville, Kingwood and then Morgantown, Bud worked for 32 years for Allegheny Power. He was a man of many talents who took on every project with confidence and determination. An avid fisherman, hunter and golfer, he loved being outdoors, celebrating God’s creation. Bud served God, His church and the community as a member of the Church of Christ throughout his life – serving as an elder for 40 years. Bud never met a stranger… offering his wisdom, wit and support to all with whom he interacted. Stories of his leadership, service and sacrifice to others are endless and will live on.

Today, we all will mourn his passing, but celebrate a life well lived as a husband, father, mentor, neighbor, citizen and friend.

Bud will be laid to rest in Beverly Hills Memorial Garden beside his wife. But in respecting the current community healthcare concerns, there will be no visitation or gravesite service. The family is planning a celebration of his life in the future.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting you make a donation to your local emergency responders or healthcare facility to recognize their critical support during these difficult times.
