Woman in SUV hits United Way Walnut St. building, cited but not injured

An SUV crashed into the United Way of Mononongalia and Preston Counties on Walnut Street Wednesday afternoon.

Jillian Thomas, 20, was driving a 2003 Ford Expedition when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the building across from the city’s Public Safety Building around 2:23 p.m., Morgantown Communications Manager Andrew Stacy said.

Thomas, who was driving on a learner’s permit, was cited by the Morgantown Police Department for failure to use due care, Stacy said.

Neither Thomas nor her passenger were injured in the collision.

Code enforcement was on scene to evaluate the structure and determine the buildings status. That information was not available Wednesday evening.
