WVU guard Brandon Knapper enters transfer portal

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — With the WVU men’s basketball team season abruptly ending, the offseason officially begins, and the first act is sophomore guard Brandon Knapper entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Knapper averaged 2.6 points and fewer than one rebound and one assist this season while shooting 26.7% from the floor. He struggled to see the floor in the latter half of the season and did not play in a couple games due to a coach’s decision. He lost playing time due to the emergence of freshman Miles McBride and hot shooting of junior Taz Sherman.

In 2018-19, as a true freshman, Knapper played in all 32 games, starting in four. He averaged 5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists.

Knapper, a Charleston native, spent one season at Hargrave (Va.) Military Academy before coming to WVU. He was a 3-star recruit during his career at South Charleston High.
