MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia women’s basketball team travels to Lubbock, Texas, on Wednesday, as the Mountaineers prepare for their final road game of the regular season against Texas Tech.
Opening tip is scheduled for 9 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock. Today’s contest will be broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest, with Cindy Brunson and Brian Agler on the call. Dan Zangrilli and Ayana Dunning will call the game for the Mountaineer Sports Network from Learfield IMG College. The game can be found on 100.9 WSZT-FM, as well as affiliates across the state, the TuneIn Radio App and wvusports.com.
The Mountaineers (16-11, 6-10) defeated the Lady Raiders (17-10, 6-10) in the first meeting this season, 67-60, back in February, at the WVU Coliseum. West Virginia has won six consecutive games against Texas Tech, dating back to 2017.
West Virginia is coming off a 61-58 loss to Iowa State, in Ames, Iowa. Three Mountaineers netted double-digits against the Cyclones, with sophomore guard Madisen Smith leading all WVU scorers with 17 points. Sophomore forward Kari Niblack scored 15, followed by freshman forward Esmery Martinez with 12. Niblack also led the way in rebounding, grabbing 14 boards, to register her fifth double-double of the season
Texas Tech is coming off an 87-83, upset win at home. The win marked the Lady Raiders first victory over a top-25 team in three years and their first sweep of TCU in seven years. Lexi Gordon posted a double double in the win, tallying 30 points and 11 rebounds, while Andrayah Adams posted 20 points. Britanny Brewer continues to lead the Lady Raiders in scoring, averaging 16.4 points per game, and is one of four TTU players averaging 10 or more points this season. Brewer also is averaging a double double this season after averaging 10.1 rebounds per game.
