Music, auctions at the “Beneath the Blue”-themed WVU Medicine Children’s 17th Annual Gala

Attendees took a trip “Beneath the Blue,” on Saturday at WVU Medicine Children’s 17th Annual Gala.

The black-tie event was held at the Morgantown Event Center in the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place.

Ryan Shazier was the master of ceremonies. The two-time Pro Bowl NFL linebacker has remained on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster since he was selected 15th overall by the organization in 2014. He recently founded The Shalieve Fight Foundation, dedicated to optimizing neurological recovery and empowering wellness for individuals with spinal cord injuries.

Registration and the cocktail reception began at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and the program followed at 7 p.m. And the evening wrapped up with a live auction and entertainment by Party on the Moon. The band performed a wide range music from the latest hits and 80s tunes to classic rock, disco/funk, R&B, Motown and new country.

A large portion of the evening for guests, and for fundraising efforts, involved live and silent auctions. Items ranged from spa packages and gift baskets to local goods and gift certificates. Larger auction items in previous years have included vacation packages, sports packages and jewelry.
