James Luzier

James Foster Luzier, 83, of Masontown, W.Va., passed away on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at his home. He was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Arthurdale, a son of the late Bernie Britton and Rosella (Simmons) Luzier.

After high school, Jim pursued a career in baseball and played in the minor leagues for the Baltimore Orioles. He came back home to take up the family trade and became a master electrician with the IBEW Local #427 in Fairmont. Jim loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, training and breaking horses. He belonged to Preston Lodge #90 AF&AM. He was instrumental in organizing many of the Valley District Youth Sports leagues including Little League baseball, Midget Football and Junior High School football, all of which he coached.

He is survived by four sons: Rodney, Jim, Bradley and Jody Luzier; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Iretta (Savage) Luzier; son, Ricky; and a grandson.
Friends may call at the Morgan Funeral Home in Reedsville from 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, until 6 p.m., the time of the funeral services, with the Rev. Ron Shultz officiating.
Private inurnment in the Masontown Cemetery will be at a later date.
