Police arrest, charge man for burglary

A burglary in progress on Wednesday morning ended with the arrest of a Morgantown man, according to police.

Aireus Jahrone Bonano, 26, is charged with burglary by the Morgantown Police Department.

Officers responded to a Dallas Street home just after 8 a.m. for the reported burglary in progress, Chief Ed Preston said.

The burglar entered through an unlocked door and one of the tenants fought with him before officers arrived, Preston said. The suspect ran away before officers arrived.

The tenants were not injured in the fight, Preston said. Bonano also did not have any injuries, according to Morgantown Communications Manager Andrew Stacy.

Bonano was found a few blocks away in a wooded area below Baird Street along Decker’s Creek, according to Stacy.

Preston said Bonano was found with multiple items reported stolen from the burglary.

Items stolen included a house key, credit cards, identifications, a driver’s license, car keys, a purse and its contents, clothes, headphones and a cell phone case, Stacy said. The items were returned to the three victims.

Additional charges because of the fight will be determined by the Monongalia County Prosecutor’s Office, Stacy said.

Bonano was arraigned in Monongalia County Magistrate Court where bond was set at $25,000. He is being held in North Central Regional Jail in lieu of that bond.
