Glenn “Sonny” Dunaway

Glenn “Sonny” Dunaway, 92, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at Mon Health Medical Center.
The son of the late Henry and Enola Everly Dunaway, he was born on Sept. 26, 1926.
Sonny retired from National Mine Service Co. and also had been employed by Feathers Construction Co., General Paving, Monongalia County Schools as a school bus driver, Bell’s Wholesale and served in the National Guard.
Sonny enjoyed singing and attended the Grafton Road Church of God. He loved to hunt, fish and was an avid Mountaineer fan, enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and loved watching westerns. John Wayne was his favorite.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth Atkins Dunaway; three children, Diane White and her husband, Bill, of French Creek, Bill Dunaway and his wife, Cheryl, of Fairmont, and Jeanette Dunaway, of Morgantown; granddaughters, Trudy Ward and her husband, Creed, of Volga, and Amanda Huff, of Volga; great-grandchildren, Quill Ward and wife, Robin, Ike Ward and wife, Cassondra, Ivy Ward, and Andy and Alexandra Huff; great-great-grandchildren, Paityn, Scarlett and Sallie Ward; a brother, Ken Dunaway, of Cottonwood, Calif.; a sister, Mary Kay Barber, of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; and his brother-in-law, Bill Barber.
Friends may call at Fred Jenkins Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, and from 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, until the 11 a.m. services with Pastor Tonya Orr officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to the staff on the 6th floor at Mon Health Medical Center, Care Partners, visiting homemakers, a niece Janet Judd and granddaughter, Trudy Ward, for everything they did for us during his illness.
