Schefter: Andrew Luck notifies Colts he plans to retire Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS — Andrew Luck has decided he will be retiring from the Colts. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Luck will officially announce the retirement today.

The news comes after Luck’s long history of injuries in Indianapolis and amid nursing a recent leg injury throughout training camp and the preseason.

The retirement has caught the professional circuit off guard, considering, even with his injury history, he has still been a reliable franchise quarterback since 2012 when he was the first overall draft pick. He saw the playoffs in his first three seasons with the Colts.

Jacoby Brissett is currently listed second in the Colt’s depth chart and should be the guy to take over the QB1 spot. Phillip Walker and Chad Kelly are listed behind Brissett.

In his six seasons and 86 games on the field as a pro, Luck has accumulated 23,671 yards on 2000 completions. He has logged 171 touchdowns and 83 interceptions. He missed the entire 2017 season with a shoulder injury.
