West Virginia’s game against Dutch national team cut short

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The West Virginia women’s basketball team had an abbreviated day in Rome.

Playing against the Dutch National Team, the game was stopped in the fourth quarter because of extreme heat in the arena.

Before the stoppage, freshman guard Kirsten Deans had a team-high 10 points, while senior Lucky Rudd had nine.

Kysre Gondrezick had six points and Madisen Smith chipped in five.

A rematch scheduled for Wednesday was cancelled.

The team is also scheduled to play the Greek National Team on Monday in Athens, before returning to Morgantown on Aug. 15.
