Robert M. “Bob” Cornwell

Robert M. “Bob” Cornwell, 70, of High Street, Morgantown, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 18, 1949, in Elkins, a son of the late Peggy V. Lewis Cornwell-Johnson and Nathaniel David Cornwell.
Robert graduated from Morgantown High School and attended WVU studying psychology. He never wanted to retire and worked just days before his passing. Robert worked for the city of Morgantown for a few years, Metro Property for 30 years and at the time of his passing was employed by WVU Mountainlair.
Robert always greeted everyone with a smile and was constantly helping others. Robert was Catholic by faith and attended St. John University Parish.
Robert never married and is survived by four sisters, Pearl Waters and husband, Donald, of Fairmont, Peggy “Cookie” Higginbotham and husband, Marvin, of Morgantown, Mary Johnson Thomas, of Morgantown, and Virginia Cornwell, of Indianapolis; eight brothers, Michael Cornwell, Dennis Cornwell, John D. Johnson and wife, Kelly, of Morgantown, Walter Johnson and wife, Melissa, of Morgantown, William Cornwell and wife, Wanda, of Tacoma, Wash., Dr. Bob Boyles of Florida, Bill and Les Boyles, of Morgantown; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved and enjoyed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepfather, John Daniel Johnson Sr.; sister, Doris Jean Cornwell; sister-in-law, Billie Jo Johnson; brothers, Nathaniel David Cornwell, James Lindsay Cornwell and Thomas Howard Cornwell; and a few of his cousins, aunts and uncles.
The Cornwell, Johnson family would like to thank WVU Medicine, the excellent doctors, nurses and staff for the wonderful care given to our brother.
The family will receive friends at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, until the 2 p.m. services with the Rev. Father Fr. Walt Jagela officiating. Honoring Bob’s wishes, cremation will follow and a private interment will follow at a later date at the East Oak Grove Cemetery.
