James Coulson

James Robert Coulson, age 93, of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Madison Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 23, 1925, in Morgantown, to the late William and Emma Alice Herod Coulson. James was a World War II United States Army Veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. Following his military service, James entered West Virginia University and received his Forestry Degree. He was a member of the WVU golf team and during his senior year was captain of the team. James enjoyed gardening and being with his nieces, nephews, and their families. He was also proud of winning the marble championship of Monongalia County in sixth grade. James is survived by his nieces and nephews, Will Coulson, Deborah Clark, John Coulson, Penny Daily, Linda Spayd, Dianna Miller, Sharon Swartz, Jimmy Mains, Tammy Campbell, Bob Coulson, Jodi Vincent and Vicki Dorn; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Coulson and Jean Coulson. James was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosa Mains and Elvira Dorn; brothers, Bill Coulson, World War II Army Veteran who was killed in active duty, John Coulson, World War II Navy Veteran, Tom Coulson, Army Veteran, Norman Squires, World War II Veteran, and Clarence Squires; and sister-in-law, Belle Coulson. The family wishes to extent a heartfelt thanks to the Madison and Amedisys Hospice for the loving care extended to their Uncle in his time of need. Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover, from 10 a.m. on Friday, June 7, until the 11 a.m. funeral service with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the WV National Cemetery, in Pruntytown, with Will Coulson officiating with graveside military honors provided by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the WV Army National Guard.
