Christine Wilson

Christine (Chris) Kelley Brown Wilson, 63, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2019, surrounded by her family, after a brave battle against Multiple System Atrophy, an aggressive form of Parkinson’s Disease.
The family would like to thank WVU Hospitals, in particular, the neurology, internal medicine, and MICU teams, for their professional care and personal support throughout Chris’s battle. A special thank you to Georgie and the Visiting Angels team for providing home care.

Chris was born April 22, 1955, in Martinsburg. After graduating from Martinsburg High School, she attended WVU where she earned a Board of Regents Degree and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. She had a special interest in math anxiety and helping students to overcome it.  Chris worked several years as the Director of the Math Learning Center and taught courses in 5 Day Math 3 at WVU. She became affectionately known as the “Math Lady” to many of her students.  Chris was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Parish.

Chris was passionate in her love of all rescue animals, in particular, her rescue dogs, a passion she shared with her veterinarian daughter, Jenny. She also loved the beach, dolphin watching, searching for seashells, spoiling her grandhorses, reading books, and visiting Disney World.  More than anything, Chris loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who called her Memaw.

Chris is survived by her husband of 42 years, Michael and their three children whom she was incredibly proud of, Kelley Wilson Harris (Jeremy), Dr. Jason Wilson (Amanda) and Dr. Jenny Wilson (Mark McRobbie), all of Morgantown. She will be dearly missed by her seven beautiful grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Ella, Amelia, Ryker, Jacob, Samantha, Thaxton, and Zoey.  She is also survived by her sister, Pat Shirley (Steve), of Glengary; niece, Susan Copen (Mike) and family, of Walkersville, Md.; and nephew, Adam Shirley, of Winter Park, Fla.; as well as her father-in-law, Dr. Fred Wilson (Audrey), of Morgantown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin D. and V. Carolyn Brown; paternal grandparents, Charles, and Ethel Brown; and maternal grandparents, Tom and Ella Kelley.

As per Chris’ wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends for a celebration of Chris’s life at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 4 – 7 p.m.  on Thursday, April 25.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in memory of Chris to Pet Helpers, Inc 726 E Park Ave, Fairmont, WV 26554,  National Parkinson’s Foundation 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131  or St Francis De Sales Catholic Church.
