Richard Brown

Richard Cole Brown, 87, of Morgantown, entered into the presence of his Lord on April 12, 2019, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.  Richard was born December 11, 1931, in Morgantown, a son of the late John and Mary E. Brown.
He attended Morgantown High School before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1951, to serve his country during the Korean War.
Richard married Annabelle Campbell and they were blessed with three children, Edith, Martha and Rick.  The family made their home in Morgantown.  Richard was a member of Goshen Baptist Church in the Ridgedale community of Morgantown.
Mr. Brown owned and operated Brown’s Esso Station on Collins Ferry Rd., in Suncrest, before becoming a salesman for Nu-Sash Window Company.  He also owned his own pre-cast business.  Richard was a lifetime member of the local Morgantown VFW Chapter 548.  He was part of the Monongalia County Scuba Rescue Squad, and served as a volunteer fireman for the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department.
In his leisure time he enjoyed building and flying Ultra-Lite airplanes, and R.C. was also a licensed pilot.
In addition to his parents Richard was preceded in death by his two brothers, John and Robert; and three sisters, Dorothy, Joann, and Martha.
He is survived by his three children, Edie English and husband Greg, Martha Haught and husband David, J. Richard Brown and companion Kim Fisher; one sister, Jane McKinney; six grandchildren, Anna English Staros, Amber English, Rev. David Haught, Maryon Haught, Nicholas Brown, Natalie Devlin; and 11 great-grandchildren.  Richard was loved and will be fondly remembered by his loving companion, Carolyn Greathouse, and her daughters, Vera Davis, Regina Greathouse and her husband Roger Samuelson and his children, Kaiety and Aimery; and her son, Eric Greathouse and wife Bobbi. He will also be greatly missed by his lifelong friend, Roger Straight.
Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16,  until the time of funeral services at 12:30 p.m. with Richard’s grandson, the Rev. David Haught, officiating.  Burial will follow at WV National Cemetery with full military honors.
