17 Monongalia County basketball players make all-OVAC teams

MORGANTOWN — The Ohio Valley Athletic Conference announced its all-OVAC teams Monday for Classes 1-5A.

For area teams in boys’ Class A, Trinity’s Briston Bennett, Joel Robertson and Daniel Woods were represented. On the girls’ side, the Warriors’ Rachel Rosen and Reagan Sharp made the team.

In Class AA, Clay-Battelle’s Levi Carrico made it on the boys’ side and Rylee Burnette was on the girls’ team.

In boys’ Class 5A, University’s Rodney Bucklew, Kaden Metheny and K.J. McClurg made the team, as did Morgantown’s Garrett Haines and Cam Selders. For girls, UHS’s Ashten Boggs, Zoe Murphy and Mallory Napolillo made it, and MHS’s Sydni Clawges and Makayla Abram were also represented.

The OVAC all-star games will be at 3 p.m. (girls) and 5 p.m. (boys) April 7 at Ohio University Eastern. In the girls’ game, MHS’s Clawges and Lexie Hughes, as well as Trinity’s Sharp and Leighton Croft, made the West Virginia roster.

On the boys’side, seven players from Monongalia County will be on the team — MHS’s Haines, Nick Malone and Selders, UHS’s Bucklew and Trinity’s are Robertson and Woods.
