Cancun Challenge could pit Huggins against former assistant

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — West Virginia coach Bob Huggins could face former assistant coach Frank Martin in next season’s Cancun Challenge.
Officials for the tournament released the bracket Wednesday, with the Mountaineers playing Northern Iowa in the first round, on Nov. 26.
On the other side of the bracket, Martin’s South Carolina team will face Wichita State with the winners moving on to a championship game and the losers playing in a consolation game, on Nov. 27.
Huggins has faced Martin once, in 2011, when the Mountaineers beat Kansas State, 85-80, in Wichita.
West Virginia will host two preliminary games in Morgantown. WVU will face Northern Colorado on Nov. 18 and Boston University on Nov. 22.
Cancun Challenge games are played in the modified ballroom at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.
