Eugene Whipkey

Eugene Whipkey, 71, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.  He was born November 20, 1947, in Morgantown, son of the late Eugene and Bertha Whipkey.
Eugene is a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of  201st National Guard, in Morgantown, for 10 years.  He is a retired coal miner from Consol Coal Company, Loveridge Mines and worked as an EMT with the Marion County Rescue Squad for 20 years.  Eugene loved cars, trucks, cooking and traveling with family.  He attended Wesley United Methodist Church, in Fairview, and was a graduate of Morgantown High School.  His beloved dog Penny will be buried with him.

Eugene is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jeanette Whipkey, of Fairview; two children, Paul Batson and wife Marcia, of McCurdysville Pike and Welcome Batson, of Winchester, Va.; four grandchildren, Forrest Stiles and wife Tarah, Hunter Ann Cuningham and husband Chuck, Autumn Marie Batson, and Austin James Kiger and girlfriend Mara Brielle; two great-grandchildren, Darius Stiles, Remington Cunningham; and a new bundle of joy will arrive in March.

In addition to his parents, Eugene is preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica Batson Kiger; and a sister, Betty Jean Wade.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, especially Jennifer, Corinna, and Marissa.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, Curry Chapel, 100 Grant St.,  Fairview,  from 3 – 7 p.m.   Saturday, Feb. 16, form 1 – 7 p.m.  Sunday, and from 11 a.m.  Monday, until the funeral service at 1 p.m.   with Pastor Randy Vincent and Pastor Jim Stalnaker officiating.  Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Garden, where full Military rites will be performed by the Westover VFW 9916.
