Preston girls’ basketball team pulls away in 4th quarter for 48-37 win over Robert C. Byrd

CLARKSBURG — It took almost the whole game, but the Preston High girls’ basketball team finally woke up in the fourth quarter to pull away from Robert C. Byrd in a 48-37 win Monday evening.

Trailing 35-31 with three minutes left in the game, the Knights finished on a 17-2 run down the stretch to pick up their 12th win of the season.

Carsynn Sines led Preston (12-8) in scoring with 17 points and Michelle Thomas followed with 13.

The Knights will play again at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday against Morgantown.
