Hazel Hoover

Hazel Helen King Hoover,     88, of Bruceton Mills,  passed away Friday, February 1, 2019, at her home with her loving family by her side.
The daughter of the late William Scott and Edna Mosser King, she was born December 15, 1930, in Bruceton Mills.
Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  In 1949, she graduated from Bruceton High School and was a member of the Hopewell Union Church where, for many years, she was secretary/treasurer, Baptist Church treasurer, and Parish Council member for Hopewell, Herring and Albright, and a member of the Bruceton-Brandonville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2523.  She enjoyed crocheting doilies and afghans, baking cookies and lemon pie and traveling by airplane to Arizona, Alaska, Holland, Florida, Germany, Georgia, and Alabama to visit her family.  Helen was employed by WV Telephone Co., Bruceton Elementary as a Teachers Aid, and Bob Murphy’s Garage from where she retired after 18 years.
She is survived by her husband, Delford L Hoover, whom she married July 25, 1970; a son, Randy Eugene Miller, of Mechanicsville, Va.; twin step-granddaughters, Haley Boucher and her husband, Nate, and Kensey Plotz; a son and his wife, David A. and Gabby Hoover, of Huntersville, N.C.; a granddaughter and grandson, Lilly and David Hoover, Jr., of Zirconia, N.C.; a sister, Mary K. Wolfe, of Bruceton Mills;  many nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Cutie Pie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harland Eugene Miller, who died as a result of a mining accident on February 13, 1963; a brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” King and Janet; two sisters and their husbands, Mabel and Willard Kelley and Naomi and Paul Benson; a brother-in-law, Dale Wolfe; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Miller; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m.  Monday  and from 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, until the 11 a.m. service  with Pastors Joe Lamm and Tim Wotring officiating.     Burial will follow in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Smithfield, Pa.
The family would like to thank the Hopewell Church family, neighbors, friends, and caregivers, Sue Chipps, Mary and Rodney Nieman, Shirley Park and Amedisys Hospice Care.
