Samuel Warash

Samuel “Sammy” Joseph Warash, 69, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, January 12, 2019, after an extended illness. He was born in Fairmont,  April 29, 1949, son of the late Samuel Warash, Sr. and Rose Talerico Warash.
Sammy graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1967, and from Fairmont State College in 1971, where he was a member of the TBI fraternity. For 40 years, he was the owner and operator of S.J. Warash Company, Inc., a successful real estate appraisal business and had a special SRA designation. He was an original board member of MVB Bank, Inc. and Chairman of the Board from 2007-2008.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family, as well as frequent golf trips with his friends, visiting his beach house in Hilton Head Island, S.C., bocce ball, gardening, canning hot peppers, and making Italian sausage using his grandpa’s secret family recipe from Italy. He had a special way of making friends everywhere and was loved by all that he met.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Kathy Helmick Warash; children, Jeff Carpenter and his wife Carol, Marc Carpenter and his wife Terry, Mo  Carpenter and his wife Michelle, Krystal Byrne and her husband Chris, Heather Awbrey and her husband Brent; brother, Richard Warash and his wife Bobbie; niece, Kacey (Scott) Friend; nephew, Christopher Warash; brother-in-law, Bill (Kathy) Helmick; grandchildren, Brian (Andi) Paugh, Megan (Erik) Cosco, Jeremy Carpenter, Josh (Miranda) Carpenter, Harmony Mayfield, Andrew Carpenter, Ty Carpenter, Amile Carpenter, Jessica Thrash, Erris (Kurt) Shumate, Michael Carpenter, Ariel Carpenter, Sam Byrne, Seth Byrne, Peyton Byrne, Madison Awbrey, Ashlyn Awbrey; and great-grandchildren, Kendall, Colton, Sutton, Brenalin, Lucas, Paislea, and Mia.
In addition to his parents, Sammy was preceded in death by two grandsons.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Don and Linda Moroose and Dr. Dino Delaportas.
The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont, from 1 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16. The funeral service will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m./ on Thursday, Jan. 17, with Sammy’s son-in-law, Pastor Chris Byrne, officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
