Dortha Fraley

Dortha Jean (Grimm) Fraley, 81, of Kingwood,  died on Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, at Preston Memorial Hospital.

She was born December 21, 1936, in Terra Alta, a daughter of the late Elmer Claude and Hallie Marie (Summerfield) Grimm Sr.

In 1956, Jean and her husband, Clarence, opened and co-owned for 62 years, Fraley Motors, in Kingwood, where she worked as the Secretary/Bookkeeper for 52 years.

She was a former member of the Kingwood Baptist Church, where she played piano and organ and was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Terra Alta. Jean enjoyed her time with her family, especially spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clarence William Fraley; one son and spouse, David R. and Loretta Fraley, of Kingwood; one brother and spouse, Elmer C. and Mary Ann Grimm Jr., of Terra Alta; two sisters, Louise Messenger, of Oakland, Md., Phyllis Martin, of Morgantown; two grandchildren, David Fraley, of Independence, Craig and Rose Fraley, of North Huntingdon, Pa.; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Todd Fraley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Max Messenger.

Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel from 5 -7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, and from 1 p.m.  on Friday, Nov.  2,  until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m.  with the Reverend Joe Lamm officiating. Interment will follow at the Terra Alta Cemetery.
