Irving Rider

Irving Rider, age 91, of Star City, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Mapleshire Nursing & Rehab Center. Irving was born in Rivesville, on March 4, 1927, a son of the late Peter Melford Rider and Ethel Cole Rider.
Irving graduated from West Virginia University with a pharmacy degree and was the owner of McVicker’s Drug store in Morgantown.  Irving enjoyed playing golf and was a charter member of the Pines Country Club. Irving was an avid WVU basketball fan and for 74 years never missed a home game.   He was also a 50 year member of Morgantown Union Lodge No. 4 AF & AM.
Irving is survived by his daughter, Colleen Titus and husband Bill, of Morgantown; son, James Rider and wife Charlene, of Cape Coral, Fla.: grandchildren, Chad Titus and wife Ashley, Amy Hostetler and husband Jason, Emily Rodriguez and husband Rene, Patrick Rider, and Stephanie Rider; great-grandchildren, James Thomas Rider, Alexis Grace Hostetler, Riley John Titus, Emma Olivia Hostetler, Aiden William Hostetler, and Kevin Michael Rodriguez; brothers, Dan Rider, of Fairmont and Ernie Rider, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Betty Wadell, of Flemington.
In addition to his parents, Irving was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Marie Rider; grandchildren, Drew and Shawn Titus; sister, Juanita Riley and brother, Robert Rider.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Friends may call at Kingdom EMC, 540 Fairmont Road, from 11 a.m.  on Tuesday, October 29, until the 1 p.m. funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with graveside masonic services provided by Morgantown Union Lodge No. 4 and Fairmont Union Lodge No. 9 AF & AM.
