Lowell Lee “Butch” Butler

Lowell Lee “Butch” Butler, 74, of Bruceton Mills, Pisgah Community, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at J.W. Ruby Mem-orial Hospital, in Morgantown, surrounded by loving family and friends.
The son of the late Virgil and Beulah Marie Butler, he was born July 3, 1944, in Grantsville, Md.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Charlotte Stockett Butler; and a son, Brian Butler, also of Bruceton Mills, in addition to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Butler; and sister, Donna Smith.
Butch served his country in the Vietnam War as a helicopter mechanic with the 128th Aviation Assault Helicopter Co. from 1965-’66 in Phu Loi. He also was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C. in the 82nd Airborne, 128th Aviation Battalion 1966-’68 as a helicopter crew chief. He was a member of the VFW Post 2523 of Bruceton Mills.
Most of his working career was spent at West Virginia University’s Physical Plant as an electrician and project manager. He also worked as lead electrician for West Virginia Mine Electric for 10 years and retired in 2006. Butch was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed driving his classic car, and riding motorcycles and mountain bikes with his son. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and his willingness to drop everything to help a friend or neighbor in need.
Family and friends will be received at Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, until the 11 a.m. service with the Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, (Pisgah) Bruceton Mills, with military honors provided by the Preston County VFW, Vietnam veterans and WVANG Military Honors, Camp Dawson.
