JoAnn Charlotte Davis

JoAnn Charlotte Davis, 79, of Morgantown, went to meet her maker on her own terms as an amazing, feisty, strong willed, god-loving woman.
She was born March 22, 1939, in Star City, a daughter of the late Charles and Fannie McCann Kohler.
She was employed for many years at WVU Towers, retiring from the housekeeping department. In her final years, she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Morgantown.
JoAnn left us Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded in her final days by those she loved the most. As her family shared their favorite memories, she spoke of how much each of them meant to her. Her final words shared her love and pride for each one of her loved ones. She insisted that all remember her and keep her in their hearts.
In JoAnn’s spare time, she loved spending time with her dog, Dora. Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren and collecting their pictures, drawings and paintings. JoAnn always put others’ needs before her own. She will be remembered for her drawer full of candy and cookies, her love of a good deal, her habit of sneaking grandchildren snacks and toys with a “Shhhhh, don’t tell your parents,” and her constant kind and supportive ear. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by those who knew her. She left this world knowing how dearly she was and will always be loved.
In addition to her faithful canine companion, Dora, she is survived by sons William Hearn Jr. and wife, Rita, and Curtis Davis Jr. and wife, Debbie; daughters, Kathy Grassel and husband, David, Joyce Miller and husband, Brad; and a sister, Pearl Summers.
JoAnn is survived by her loving grandchildren, Robyn Bennett, Angela Fletcher, Becky McCauley Rench, Sabrina McCauley, Joy Riley, Adrianna Panik-Hearn, Michael Dawson, Kristie Dawson, Brittany Davis, Joshua Davis and Noah Davis; and great-grandchildren, Brendan, Kevin, Jana, Brooklyn, Isabel, Dylan, Chloe and Paxton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Hearn; one brother and four sisters.
Friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, until the 11 a.m. funeral services with Pastor Jeff Huggins officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
